So excited to work with the fabulous Vega String Quartet this week in preparation for the premiere on Saturday! This work was keenly crafted and inspired by the members themselves and my dear friend and colleague, Will Ransom (and, I have to say, somewhat coloured by recent transformative family events that have lent a new energy and dimension to my work as a composer and conductor!).
So glad to see that I appear in Maestro Robert Spano’s bio!
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra/NPR broadcast of the October premiere of …of shadow and light (incantations for orchestra) was a fun listen! Thanks to the community of Facebook friends and colleagues from all over who messaged me!
Cello Concerto for Matt Haimovitz (2014), Viola Concerto for Stephen Upshaw (2015), Double Timpani Concerto (2015) and a Sax Concerto (2016). I shall be officially concerted out…
Parts went out to the Vega Quartet today as the premiere date looms! Twenty-three minutes of energetic (highly contrapuntal!), occasionally poignant music in the Prior-typical three movement form. Can’t wait to work with the players!
